Zukunft Offshore 2019

falls at a time of important energy policy issues and developments:

  • Coal phase-out: How should the continuous generation of electricity, which is essential for security of supply, be guaranteed in the future?
  • Climate protection law: Can Germany achieve the target of 65% renewable energy generation by 2030 and thus the targets of the Paris Climate Protection Agreement?
  • Sector coupling: Can a future full supply of renewable energies secure Germany as an industrial location as well as mobility, construction, housing and private consumption?
  • Market development: Offshore wind energy is gaining in importance not only for the German energy system transformation. It is currently more than ever a topic of international energy and climate policy.
  • Innovations: Offshore wind energy always means exciting and innovative engineering services, such as foldable (and floating!) wind turbines and the long-awaited 12-megawatt turbine.

Why to attend Future Offshore Wind?

„With our conference, we would like to bring offshore wind energy to Berlin and show what the future holds for offshore wind energy.

We believe that the industry currently has many technological and economic success stories to tell: greatly reduced costs, floating wind farm foundations or innovative rotor blades.

We have put together an exciting programme with international speakers, technical innovations and important political players, addressing an audience from politics, business and civil society.

We are looking forward to the second FUTURE OFFSHORE.

Uwe Knickrehm, Managing Director

„Germany has coined the term energy system transformation worldwide and has also been a leader in offshore wind energy for many years. In the meantime, many other countries such as the Netherlands, France and Great Britain are catching up and developing holistic concepts in which offshore wind plays an important role. In addition to the development options, it is interesting to compare the different regulatory frameworks and learn from each other if necessary. In Germany, for example, this year politicians must find an answer to the question of how much offshore wind is desired in Germany in the future and what a comprehensive solution for decarbonizing all sectors could look like. We therefore have enough interesting topics and current questions for the second FUTURE OFFSHORE.”
